Food Blog | Triple K Beef Noodles
Hip restaurants, cool clothing shops and banana bread are what you think of when you head to Jalan Dhoby, but this little gem in Triple K serves a bowl of beef noodles that really packs a punch in its soup and flavours.
Is this Restaurant Halal?
No, this restaurant is non-halal. It has some pork dishes, and the soups seem to have some non-halal flavours (don’t ask me what that’s supposed to mean though, it just tastes like it has some of the flavours).
Where is It?
It is further along the same row as Restoran Kin Hua in Jalan Tan Hiok Nee. It is in a less ‘hip’ and more traditional area of Jalan Dhoby. If you walk down from that banana bread stall that everyone knows (almost to the end of the road), and you’ll be able to find Triple K Beef Noodles.
Address: 48, Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor
(Open 9am-5pm daily, Monday off-day)
What it Costs
I’m not sure how the pricing actually works, but they seem to charge RM10 for your basic bowl of noodles (regardless of what is inside). Everyone on my table was charged RM10 regardless of what we ordered, so take it with a pinch of salt.
I would say I don’t feel full enough because of the meal, and I’m a bit underwhelmed by the amount of meat given together with the noodles. I personally got the signature beef noodles with the additional intestines, etc.
How it Tastes
Regardless of what I say about the size. This thing tastes pretty darn good. The soup actually was really nice in the sense that they meet my criteria for these types of soup: actually tastes nutritious, doesn’t taste like MSG completely and tastes like the actual meat.
The soup, the meat is actually cooked really nice, and the flavours are really good. The garnish was nice, and I honestly had a really enjoyable meal. The noodles are nice to eat, don’t stick to one another and overall they created a really nice bowl of noodles.
Coming here with…
Your Family (A really good, feel-good Chinese meal. I would say, this is quite suitable)
Solo (A nutritious bowl of soup with a very old school restaurant feel, YES)
Colleagues (Debatably cheap, but the taste is good, so I definitely think it is worth recommending, at least once)
Your Date (Not for the first, but maybe just to try. Not really a ‘dating’ spot though)
Little kids (Not really. Not too many options, but maybe soup noodles gets a just about yes?)
Star Rating
7/10. Flavours are good, a bit expensive for a bowl of noodles that didn’t make me full, but a really good meal that I enjoyed. I would personally think this is one of those places I would come again.
