Food Blog | Sisters BBQ Korean Family Restaurant Bukit Indah

My favourite Korean restaurant in the Johor Bahru area, Sisters BBQ is a great place for Korean BBQ without the fuss of smelling like barbecue after! Not to mention the excellent tasting food here, this is one of my personal top picks in the Bukit Indah area!

Context: I’ve actually eaten here for my last 2 birthdays in a row, so that probably gives some indication of how much I actually like this place! Came here with my girlfriend for a lunch, and I would say this was us going from hungry to really full.

Is it Halal?

This is a non-halal Korean bbq restaurant - serves pork among other things on the menu, so I do highly recommend you to eat at your own discretion if you’re worried about whether things like their other meats are halal or not.

Where it Is?

The big landmark it is fairly nearby would be Aeon Bukit Indah, but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend going driving through that way. I would say it is much better to just go through the roundabout and exit when you get to the one going in the direction of Tesco. Then, take a left at the first turning and once you see Marco Polo (or slightly before, you can start to find parking).

It is honestly quite hard to miss, but it is a few shoplots down from Marco Polo and if you get to the big Chinese restaurant before McDonald’s, you’ve gone too far.

What it Costs

The one slight con to this place is that I’m not going to lie, it is a little bit more to the expensive side. So I’ll use the example of my birthday lunch. We ate their 2-3 persons set and added on one serving of rice (RM5) and the bill came up to RM147.40 (with tax and all things included).

If you equate that to a meal for 2 people, that is RM73 per person, so I do think that the price is definitely a little bit steep. That being said, that particular set is definitely more suited to 3 people - but I was mighty hungry when we came here XD. Let’s say if 3 people share, it costs around RM49 per person, which is in that okay territory for Korean food.

Corn Cheese

The one thing that I absolutely LOVE about this place would be just that the meal is all inclusive. You don’t really have to ask for anything because everything is there ready for you. You have what is THE BEST side dish selection in Johor Bahru, without doubt as well as service that is quick and ready to help you with anything that you need.

You’ve got your usual selection of sauces for the meats, as well as a generous portion of lettuce and another vegetable that they gave us.

With regards to the set, there is a lot of things included. You have their steamed egg, their kimchi pancake, corn cheese, soybean paste stew and their selection of pork belly and spare ribs. Honestly speaking, this is A LOT of food, I’m not going to deny.

Steamed Egg

How it Tastes

Honestly love this place! Feels really authentic and makes awesome food. If anything, I like their side dishes to start the meal because they are really yummy. I personally get quite annoyed when a Korean restaurant doesn’t have any side dishes XD.

My personal favourites are the egg roll and the 2 sausage ones, but maybe because I just like meat in general XD. The yam side dish is pretty good too!

Next up, the steamed egg. I mean, it is steamed egg Korean style. It doesn’t really get different from place to place, but it is good to have it to start.

Kimchi Pancake

Kimchi Pancake

The kimchi pancake is crispy and has a lot of flavour on it. The corn cheese is one of the rarer things I see in Korean restaurants. A really sweet yet savoury dish - because of the cheese - that is pretty interesting everything I have it.

Their soybean paste stew has seriously A LOT of fillings inside of it from tofu to vegetables to even some seafood inside.

And their meat is great! I mean, I quite simply have only good things to say about the quality of food that they cook up here at Sisters BBQ!

Star Rating

8/10. My favourite Korean BBQ restaurant in JB - as evidenced by the fact that I’ve had this for 2 of my birthdays! Love the food, love the service, I could like the prices they have here, but I will overlook this since I come here once every now and then. Highly recommend!
