Food Blog | Fuyi 富一 Tomiichi Japanese Ramen Food Truck | Nusa Bestari

Hi everyone, posting quite with a bit more frequency these days, and this time I’m sharing a Japanese food truck in Fuyi (富一) Japanese Food Truck! This is a pretty neat place to go for your midnight suppers!

Context: Not going to lie, the plan for the day I visited Fuyi for the first time was kind of by chance, as we were supposed to go to another food truck instead (but was closed) so me and my girlfriend decided to eat here instead.

Is it Halal?

No, this is a non-halal food truck - they’ve got pork incorporated into a lot of their ramen broths and chashu pieces. DON’T visit with halal company.

Where it Is

It is located in Nusa Bestari in the same square as HSBC Amanah (but further down) and usually it is located along the main road in front of 99 Home Design. There are a few food trucks in the vicinity including a food truck belonging to October (the steamboat place), so do check properly if you really want the ramen I’ll be talking about here today.

Address: 45, Jalan Bestari 12/2 Bandar Nusajaya, 81300 Skudai, Johor

Operating Hours:

Daily: 7:30pm to 12 midnight (Closed on Thursdays)

What it Costs

The ramens here are on the reasonable/pricey for a street vendor (depends on how you view the fact that this is essentially a street vendor rather than a proper Japanese restaurant - but the ambience is still nice). The ramen comes at RM12 each, with many different broths that the ramen can come in.

The yakitori comes in at a few different prices, with the pork one (the one that I sampled with my girlfriend) coming in at RM3 per stick. You can also choose your sauce as well and I went with the teriyaki sauce to go with the pork teriyaki.

The total of our meal for two came up to RM30 (RM12 x 2 + RM3 x 2) .

How it Tastes

I went with the spicy ramen, whilst my girlfriend went with the original broth ramen. What I’ll say is that the spicy broth can almost be described as being one of those broths that are almost spicy for no reason (like spicy with no purpose - it is literally just hot). I think that if you like that style then it is suitable for you, but I think that most people would probably just enjoy the original broth more.

That being said, the pork chashu is SO BLOODY GOOD. It is one of those that is tender and really melts in your mouth, so I guarantee that the chashu is an absolute WINNER. It comes in both of the ramens so don’t worry - it will be in that ramen of yours.

Original Ramen Nusa Bestari

The original one is a nice, hearty bowl of ramen that I guess most people can enjoy, so I would say out of the two that we tried, that is probably the one to eat.

Pork Yakitori

Last of all, the yakitori. The meat itself is delicious, but I think the sauce kind of falls flat because it almost feels like a separate entity from the pork itself. I mean this from the perspective that it is almost too sweet (the teriyaki sauce), making it a bit meh for me - so I think it’s alright to give this a miss.

At the end of the day, you’re really here for that pork chashu.

Star Rating

7/10. Decently priced bowl of ramen that is perfect for your late night supper meals. That pork chashu is really something else as well, so this is a really nice place to go in the late evenings.
