Food Blog | Kinoya | Onyx Tower | The Greens | Dubai
Kinoya is a fantastic ramen spot that was recently a receipient of the MIchelin Bib Gourmand award (an award for restaurants that have been impressing customers over the past year) and I just had to check out what they had to offer. Here’s what me and my family had on our visit at Kinoya!
Context: Came here as a group of 4! I just have to give a special mention to the attention to detail that this restaurant has - from the layout of the restaurant to their website! Not often will I really go out of my way to talk about a restaurant’s website, but it is actually super quirky and shows the personality of the restaurant.
Where it Is
It is located at Onyx Tower @ The Greens. There’s an indoor parking here - you just have to make sure to remember to chop off your parking ticket in order to get free parking. My family normally frequents the 1004 Gourmet at Onyx Tower - so you can stop by there to stock up on your Asian supermarket essentials!
Address: The Onyx Tower 2, Sheikh Zayed Road, near ADIB Bank, Dubai
Phone Number: +971 4 220 2920
Operating Hours:
Tuesday to Sunday: 12.00 pm - 1.00 am

What it Costs
I would say that the pricing here is just about right. My family ate here for a grand total of AED277 (so approximately AED70 per person). However, I would say that this would definitely be on the lower side of what you expect to pay for a meal here - reason being that we didn’t order any of the more expensive drinks / we ordered some of the smaller dishes and you can also order some small dishes to share.
The breakdown of our meal is like such:
Bottle of water - AED25
Shio Ramen - AED55
Yuzu Shio Ramen - AED55
Extra nori (seaweed) for Yuzu Shio Ramen - AED4
Tekka Don - AED70
Stir Fried Rice with Unagi AED68
VAT5%
Total: AED277
One special thing to note: although the yuzu shio ramen has a nori pictured above the bowl, you need to actually order it as an addon. (Although I’m slightly confused why they made the dish cheaper in the menu AED60 to AED55, but with the AED4 addon for the nori). However, they were really clear and forthcoming regarding this.
How it Tastes
The short summary of my review on the taste would be this: just order the shio ramen. I honestly think that it is the most neutral dish that most people can appreciate and it’s the one that tastes the best (to me).
I had the Shio Ramen - and it is a wonderful bowl of ramen. Lots of flavour in the broth, really springy ramen noodles. It really is everything you want from an ideal bowl of ramen all mixed in one. The chicken is alright (I’m personally a bigger fan of chashu, but I understand the limitations given we’re in Dubai). ORDER THIS is basically my short message to you if you’re visiting Kinoya.
I think the Yuzu Shio Ramen is one of the more hit or miss dishes. I would say order this if you want something a bit out of the ordinary, because it really is something that is quite unique. I’ve not had a ramen quite as …. zesty / citrusy as this just yet. I think it’s a tasty ramen - just maybe not the type of ramen that is suited to me personally - I prefer the Shio Ramen.
I feel like with regard to the Tekka Don and the unagi fried rice, I think you can find better versions of the dish elsewhere - in particular the tekka don, so I would suggest to give those a miss.
Star Rating
7.5/10. If you want to visit Kinoya, I would just recommend that you keep things simple and order the Shio Ramen. The food’s generally great, service fantastic and this is definitely the best ramen I’ve had in Dubai thus far!
