Worth the Hype? | KFC Malaysia White BBQ Crunch | Review
As with a lot of the other KFC promotions, I decided to take a stab at the BRAND NEW White BBQ Crunch chicken. (Please appreciate my effort in ruining my health for this blog XD) Here’s the latest WTH! (Worth the Hype or What the Hell?)
This is a pretty new promotion that I caught win off on Twitter. I was a little lazy and there was a 50% promotion on Foodpanda so I decided to use the promotion as a justification to feed my cravings! Here’s just a few of the details about this promotion.
How it’s described is that it is basically your usual KFC chicken but with a twist! There’s a scrumptious looking hot sauce glaze on the exterior. On top of that, you’ve got a smoky white BBQ sauce. Honestly looking at the promotion itself, I’m a bit meh. In general, I’m more of a fan of when KFC mix up their spices and add more spice in there, but here’s my thoughts on this promotion!
Price
The graphic included is basically all you need to know about the prices. As usual, these are prices that you will pay (no additional tax or anything) - unless you go to those specialty ones (I would assume that airports and Genting, etc. would price it a tiny bit higher.
Basically up to you what you want.
I personally went with the box combo because I think its the best value for money and it can fill up my tummy the best. The box combo is 1 pc chicken, 1 Zinger Burger, a coleslaw, a pack of french fries and pepsi (RM20.30).
This is the same prices as the 3 pc combo - the difference is that you are trading one zinger burger and fries for mashed potatoes and 2 pieces of chicken (RM20.30). Then the 2 pc combo is basically the same as the 3 pc combo but with 2 pc chicken instead (RM15.90).

Please note that this review is despite a slightly colder chicken (please FoodPanda be a little faster XD).

But despite this, I actually really like it! The way I would describe it would be as if you walked into a pub and got some fried chicken (those sweet type on the outside). Kind of a mix of pub chicken and Korean fried chicken.
Yes, the bottom of the chicken is not drenched in the glaze…. see the below picture
I will have to say that from advertising, you would think that it would at least be drenched with their hot sauce glaze over the exterior of the ENTIRE chicken (literally look at the pictures and the video - the man is LITERALLY eating from the side of a normal KFC chicken judging by the video but I’ll let it pass.

The hot sauce is actually pretty legit. I mean it tastes a little cheap, but I ain’t gonna deny that it is tasty. The sweetness if probably what sells it for me. Goes really well with the KFC chicken and I can really see this one being a pretty big hit (although I would say that the smoky white bbq isn’t quite doing it for me - turns it a little bit into a sweet & sour - honestly the glaze is probably enough for this to be tasty for me).
But all in all, I like what they’ve done, and this is one of those cool promotions that is definitely worth at least one try.
Worth the Hype?
This is an easy WORTH THE HYPE for me. I’m a fan, what can I say. Probably more one of those that you have once and get sick of the more you eat it, but this is worth a try in my books!
