Food Blog | Marina Social by Jason Atherton @ Intercontinental Hotel | Dubai Marina
Today I’m sharing a restaurant at which I had my birthday dinner with my parents. It is none other than Marina Social by Jason Atherton, located on the first floor of the Intercontinental Hotel (Dubai Marina).
Where it Is
It is located at Dubai Marina - with the closest tram station being the JBR1 station. It is a short walk from the station. But if you’re getting here by car, you can leave it with their valet and get a stamp from the staff working at the restaurant after your meal.
Address: First Floor, Intercontinental Hotel, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud St - Dubai Marina - Dubai - United Arab Emirates
Operating Hours:
Daily: 6 - 10:45pm
Except Friday: 1 - 4pm, 7 - 10:45pm and Saturday: 1 - 10:45pm
I recommend getting a reservation because it was quite packed on the day that I was there (although keep in mind it was a Thursday night).
You can click here if you would like to book a table.
What it Costs
Marina Social accept Entertainer - so we used one buy 1 free 1 deal for our mains. We also ordered one of their steak night deals - just double check before you order that you can use both offers together.
Our meal ran up to AED490. The breakdown is like such: 1 Ribeye Steak (AED230), 1 Cod Fish (AED165), 1 Mushroom Risotto (AED90 - but free, being the cheaper main for the Entertainer deal), 1 Sticky Toffee Pudding (AED65) and 1 Acqua Panna (AED30). There was also a 5% VAT on top, but no other fees.
There also gave a complimentary birthday dessert as well as a palate cleanser at the end - a small piece of brownie (cold) and passionfruit. Overall, I would say that this place is actually pretty value for money when you factor in the food and the service you get when you dine here.

How it Tastes
I’ll start off with the mushroom risotto because I LOVE risottos in general. Note that this is a vegetarian risotto but I honestly LOVED it. It has that creaminess coming from the mushroom and the cheese blends in really well with the dish - not overpowering the other elements.
It has the right texture and is the right balance of consistency (sometimes they can be too wet). It gets my seal of approval as a risotto fan.
Next up, the cod fish. What I would say is that I like the crispiness you get from burning off the top, but you don’t get that soft, almost creamy texture that I would normally associate with cod fish. The gnocchi, however, was cooked down really well and has that almost “QQ” texture that makes it really yummy to eat.
The steak is pretty good as well - I particularly liked their bearnaise sauce because it tastes great together with the steak. No real complaints from me about the steak at all. (Pictured above in the blog)
I would say that the sticky toffee pudding is one of the more lighter renditions of the dish. I so often finish a sticky toffee pudding and think - jeez, that is so filling. That isn’t the case with this one. Despite saying that, it’s still super flavourful and the salted caramel ice cream is good enough to eat on its own.
Star Rating
7.5/10. I’m personally quite torn between 7.5 or 8, so I would say it probably lies somewhere in the middle. This is one of those places that I would say have nailed all their fundamentals and are in that ‘can’t go wrong’ category.
The service is great and very helpful and the food is pretty tasty as well.
