Food Blog | Table & Apron | Damansara Kim | Petaling Jaya (2024 Update)

This will be an updated post for Table & Apron in lieu of a huge meal I had here with colleagues. Had one from pre-COVID (Jan 2 2020), so it’s been a while, but it’s still a restaurant I love, and a go to for small get-togethers, so here’s the update, with lots more food for show, but keeping the post a bit shorter, just because you all already probably know how much I love this place!

Table and Apron Ribs

Is it Halal?

No, this is a non-halal restaurant and uses wine and pork in their cooking. There are, however, some options that seem halal friendly (duck confit pasta doesn’t seem to have any non-halal ingredients inside), but of course eat at your own discretion.

Where it Is

Be prepared for some difficulty in the parking process, especially on rainy days. If it isn’t rainy, you might fun some luck parking either in the residential area or the nearby block of shops (near Mini Tanker)

Address: 23, Jalan SS 20/11, Damansara Kim, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

What it Costs

This meal came up to RM543.85 for 3 people, but a REALLY important disclaimer. Even the staff came up to us and basically asked us, are you sure you can eat all that much before we basically finished up everything. There’s even a special sneak peak at a Christmas appetizer in their roasted beetroot dish (2024 seasonal offering coming late in the year), so look out for that.

Here’s our price breakdown

Beetroot (Complimentary)
Pulled Pork (RM24)
Okra (RM20)
Ulam Rice (RM39)
Beef Ragu Pasta (RM45)
Fried Chicken - 3 pieces (RM27)
Ribs (RM48)
Orange Cake (RM20)
Raspberry Pecan Cake (RM20)
Drinks (RM187)
Tax: RM 32.34
Service Charge: RM46.50
Total: RM543.85

To be honest, I would say we did drink quite a bit, so just take this bill with a pinch of salt and perhaps just take each dish for what it is.

How it Tastes

Starting off with their seasonal Roasted Beetroot dish. I actually like this quite a lot. It’s a roasted beetroot dish with galbani ricotta and walnuts. Honestly a REALLY good combination when all mixed together. Maybe it’s a bit too pretty to mix, but you really got to mix it all together and it is a dish that really tastes wonderful with all the different elements mixed.

Roasted Beetroot with Ricotta

Their pulled pork and okra I’ve talked about in the previous blog post, but I would say not MUST-HAVES necessarily, but still nice starter dishes that are not so heavy that you can slowly indulge on as you go through your meal.

As always, the fried chicken is wonderful. On the menu, there are two options - one for 3 pieces, and one for 6 pieces. Really just love that fried chicken batter just because of how well seasoned and crunchy that exterior is!

Fried Chicken

The ribs are actually pretty underrated too, in my opinion. Really tender, juicy and full of flavour. Really everything you’d want from a nice ribs dish.

Do note to just check to see if there are any off menu items, because they do a lot of special offerings and seasonal menus, so just check for that because they are generally all really interesting! This is maybe one of their simpler off menu items: a beef ragu pasta.

Beef Ragu Pasta
Nasi Ulam

Absolutely no complaints about the desserts as well. Not too sweet - for both of them, which maybe I actually grow to appreciate as I get older.

Raspberry Pecan Pie
Orange Cake

This is also the first time I’ve drank alcohol here, and I would say they actually have quite an interesting wine and beer selection which they’re happy to share a lot about. LOTS of history with some of their special wines, which I think those who enjoy theirs wines can really appreciate, like appreciate. They may not always have glasses for all wines available, but doesn’t hurt to ask.

Star Rating

9/10. Was 9/10 back in 2020, and I’ll keep that rating because they always seem to impress me. This is actually one of my favourites to bring guests and recommend, just because I know it is so reliable, will definitely be back eventually!
